A good lyric is the foundation of a killer country song, and, currently, the country music community includes a number of songwriters who really know how to turn a phrase.

Plenty of country artists write their own music, but that doesn't mean they don't partner with co-writers from time to time, or occasionally select a song written entirely by outside writers. A number of big country stars -- everyone from Cole Swindell to Chris Stapleton -- began their careers penning songs for others; some well-known songwriters, such as Lori McKenna, focus largely on writing for others but have released a solo record or two; and some artists, such as Rhett Akins, turned to songwriting after having a few hits of their own.

Who's your favorite of country music's current songwriters? Let us know by voting in the poll below -- you can vote once every hour -- or, if you don't see your pick among the poll's options, tell us in the comments section.
