
Nostalgia Strikes As Radio Shack Keeps Its Doors Open
Radio Shack was an iconic store. It was the go-to destination for batteries and electronics, gifts like RC Cars and video games, DIY items like capacitors and resistors, and so much more.
The world was sad to hear that the corporate stores were closing down one by one just over 10 years ago.
Much like how we have one last Blockbuster Video in Bend, Oregon, there are still a select few Radio Shack stores that are still open and very functional.
These remaining stores can be found all across the United States, though few and far between.

Now, less than 50 authorized Radio Shack component resale stores still exist today.
And only a few of those stores still carry the Radio Shack name.
One of them happens to be in Layton, Utah, where I happen to be this past weekend.
I couldn't pass up an opportunity to revisit a store that I loved so much growing up in Yakima. I'd visit the 24th and Nob Hill location often (where 1UP Games is now).

Just walking inside hit me with a wave of nostalgia as I'm sure it would anyone who had a love for Radio Shack.
Fun to see they still had items like blank CDs and even blank VHS on the shelves, along with all the tools and electronics that makes Radio Shack great.
