Yakima has a problem with this crack that has had many worried since it was discovered.

It was huge news for us here in Yakima back in 2018 when it was discovered that there was a huge crack on the side of the hill that connects Union Gap to the rest of the lower valley.

It's the Rattlesnake Ridge Landslide and it was what everyone was talking about that week.

It had many asking was it a 'one and done' event or will it get worse? Will it eventually come crumbling down and cover our roads?

All great questions.

Even after the hype died down a bit people would still consider if it does get worse what would happen. Or what could happen or how can we prevent it from getting worse.

Again, more great questions.

All of the 'Yakima has a crack problem' jokes aside, it seems that after this event a few years ago, no new developments seems to have really happened since then.

That's a good thing.

The other day I was flying overhead from a flight back from Seattle and the air traffic route goes directly over this crack so I decided to take a couple photos since I could see it clear as anything.

Again, it doesn't seem to be any worse but it's not going to get better or heal itself so I supposed best thing we can do is be on guard and on alert so when something does happen teams will be ready for any aftermath.
