Sam Hunt has canceled his headlining performance at the 2017 Taste of Country Music Festival, citing illness.

News that the singer was sick was shared on the Taste of Country Festival Facebook page Sunday afternoon (June 11):

Hunt says this is the first time he's ever pulled out of a performance.

Sunday was Day 3, the final day of the fifth-annual Taste of Country Music Festival, a three-day camping and country music festival in Hunter, N.Y. Jason Aldean and Miranda Lambert headlined the first two nights of the fest, with artists like Tyler Farr, Chris Young and Kip Moore filling out the lineup. Perfect weather and a packed Hunter Mountain are the lasting images of the 2017 fest.

Hunt just started his 15 in a 30 Tour, a summer-long trek that includes ToC Fest artists Maren Morris and Chris Janson. He played during the 2017 CMA Festival in Nashville on Friday (June 9), and he tried to press on for Sunday night's show, but told his fans via social media that he simply could not sing the songs in a way that would do them justice.

"I believe in mind over matter but this time it let me down," he writes. "I'll do what I need to do to make it up to all the folks who came out to see us tonight."

Kip Moore becomes the final 2017 Taste of Country Music Festival performer on the main stage, with Morgan Myles playing a show starting at 7:45 in the Empire State Tap Room.
