Smartphone App Helps Mechanic Save Month-Old Baby’s Life
Apps make life easier. And sometimes they make saving a life easier.
Jeff Olson, a mechanic in Spokane who also serves as a volunteer EMT, recently raced to the aid of a one-month-old boy who had stopped breathing while in a store after he got a notification that CPR was needed at an address not far from where he works.
It seems Olson has the PulsePoint app on his smartphone that alerts people who know CPR about cardiac episodes in their area. He rushed to the shop and performed CPR on the baby and helped save his life.
As you might imagine, the incident was pretty jarring. Olson said he "shook for about 10 minutes" after he finished.
