Do you remember your family's car from your childhood? My Dad owned several cars over the years of my youth, from station wagons to those large boat-like sedans, to some fairly unreliable clunkers. One car stands out in my mind as being the one from which I draw the fondest memories of time spent with my Dad on the road. That car was a 1966 Ford Mustang.

He purchased that car right here in Yakima and even though I was only 4 years old at the time, I'll never forget seeing him drive up in front of the house with this new, sleek, olive green 'Stang. He put over 200,000 miles on that wonderful 289 engine. A sad end to the story: Other than leaning over from the passenger seat and getting to steer while he lit his cigarette, I never got to drive that car. He sold it a year before I turned 16.

Over the years I've wondered whatever happened to EDU-632. I still remember the license plate number. I'm curious if there is a way to track down old vehicles and find out their whereabouts or their fate. I realize, that not having seen the car in about 45 years, it's likely long-since gone on to automobile heaven. But I can't help but wonder, is there a way to find an old vehicle like that?

Of course, if it were still in existence, it might be beautifully restored and worth far more than I could afford to offer someone. On the other hand, it could be rusted-out and in a junk pile somewhere which would be entirely depressing. Perhaps best to keep it in my memory where it can remain intact. However, if you know how one would go about finding such an old 'friend', hit me up on the station app.
