If it's Earth Day, and it is, it's the 22nd of April and this means that we only have a little over a week left in the fourth month of the year! How has time flown by so quickly in 2021 already?!
Cinco de Mayo is today (Friday), and for those of you who do not speak Spanish, that means "fifth of May." It celebrates the Mexican army's May 5, 1862, victory over French forces during the Battle of Puebla -- though many mistakenly believe it commemorates Mexico's independence day.
This year's Cinco de Mayo celebration in Yakima marks its 15th anniversary this weekend with a two-day festival hosted by the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in the heart of downtown.
The free, family-friendly event annually draws 20,000 attendees and is also now one of the longest-running annual events in downtown Yakima as well.
