Proposed legislation in Olympia that would raise the legal smoking age to 21 in Washington is gaining public support, according to a new poll of 500 voters.
Just today I learned that Oregon is making it illegal to smoke in the car if you have children in there, too. If you're caught, it's a $250 fine. This got me thinking - should Washington State pass this law as well? Take the poll!

The Yakima City Council will be taking up the issue of smoking at special events in city parks. Councilperson Sara Bristol who introduced the proposed smoking ban had mainly focused on special events at city parks. The Council will hear from you tonight on the matter in a public hearing at City Hall at 7PM.
This past week at the Yakima City Council meeting, Sara Bristol brought up the idea of banning smoking in city parks. It's an interesting proposition and one I think most families would agree with. Other cities around the country have enacted similar bans. So as we wait for this issue to come back to the city council, what do you think?
