New Pad Thai Spot in West Valley at D’Thai Street Food in Yakima
Across from Walmart on 64th and Nob Hill, I was excited to see a sign go up calling themselves D'Thai Street Food.
When it came time for lunch, I remember this place had to be pretty close to being done and, to my surprise, they had the open sign lit. Like a moth to a light, I found myself inside placing an order.
Right when you walk in, you can see the different dishes you can order and what they'll look like. They're kind of a plastic replica but it gives you an idea. I love it when places do this.
We ordered a couple of dishes as well as an appetizer. First, the Thai tea. This was blue. I forgot what it was called, but it sure was pretty. Tasted great, too.
The food came out very quickly. Like, I was surprised how fast it came out. It was as if it was already done but taking a bit into the pot stickers you could tell they were just made and came out fresh. Not under a heatlamp or anything.
Then, shortly there-after, we got our dishes we ordered. I opted for the shrimp pad thai. I forgot what it was actually called, but it was pretty close to that. Portions were much larger than I anticipated. Though this had the right amount of spice, they had a small rack of spices I could use to make it spicier. I didn't need to.
My kid loves bbq pork so they opted for the bbq dish with rice, cucumber, egg and more. A little of everything they love.
The portions were so large neither of us finished our meal. Fortunately for me they were served in these to-go containers so easy to pop the lid back on and take them home.
They couldn't have been open long, but I hope D'Thai Street Food stays open for a long time. The prices may be a bit high. Like, higher than you're used to. I think my dish was near $20 just for me. But with the portions being as large as they are, and the quality is superb, it's worth it for me on occasion. They have a few other dishes I'm eager to try.
I'll save those for next time.
