"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds."

I'm not sure who said it and I don't even think it's about the United States postal service but our mailmen and women live up to that motto. The mail still gets delivered, your Amazon packages still arrive to your front porch, your Etsy orders still go out to where they need to go, we have a lot of love and respect for our mail carriers.

Raising the prices of just about anything anymore in inevitable. USPS announced they were planning on doing that as well starting this month.

This is nothing new, of course. I've been mailing out packages since the late 90s and have seen my share of price hikes. I remember when I could mail a small, flat-rate box was about $5 and now you're paying almost $10 for the same service.

Fortunately, there are other options than just flat-rate. There's ground parcel that takes a few days but will get there in a timely manor. Several more to choose from, too.

Here are the 4 price raises as announced by the United States Postal Service.

USPS Ground Advantage gets a 3.9% average increase.
Priority Mail get a 3.2% average increase.
Priority Mail Express get a 3.2% average increase.
Parcel Select get a 9.2% average increase.

The good news is stamps aren't slated for an increase just yet. Especially if you bought all those 'forever stamps' like I know a few people did several years ago. Keeping up to their name, they still work for letters.

These price increases are for when you're mailing packages. Something to keep in mind next time you're dropping off something to friends and family far away.
