Washington State is Not the Best for Singles, but Definitely Not the Worst

Well, it's about time for Valentine's Day... again.
And here you are without a valentine... again.

Well, it's not your fault and it never was. You're a perfect 10 and you know it. Maybe it's just where we live. As it turns out, Washington state isn't the best place to be single. It's not bad, but it's not great. It doesn't even rank in the Top 10 places for singles.

WalletHub ranked all the states for best places for singles and, as it turns out, Washington state is ranked 13. Yep, lucky number 13. 13th place in the best place for singles. Again, not great but definitely not the worst.

First place belongs to California. Good for them. Second place is New York. Fine. Florida runs third. That's their fault.

Never mind that last place you want to live if you're single and looking for a flingle is West Virginia. Maybe that's why they're always marrying their cousin there, I'm not sure.

Either way, if you're single, Washington state isn't a terrible place to be single. Wish it was better and maybe we can work on that. Things that went into consideration are dating opportunities, dating economics and just places to have fun. That makes sense.

Washington state did come in first place for best places for online dating opportunities. This confuses me a bit as if it's online it doesn't matter where you're from, online could be literally anywhere. Even West Virginia. Maybe it's because we're the most articulate. I'm not sure. Either way, be glad you're in Washington if anything, as it's not West Virginia.

To find out more about how has the price of gas changed throughout the years, Stacker ran the numbers on the cost of a gallon of gasoline for each of the last 84 years. Using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (released in April 2020), we analyzed the average price for a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline from 1976 to 2020 along with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for unleaded regular gasoline from 1937 to 1976, including the absolute and inflation-adjusted prices for each year.

The 2020 County Health Rankings values were calculated using mortality counts from the 2016-2018 National Center for Health Statistics. The U.S. Census 2019 American Community Survey and America's Health Rankings Senior Report 2019 data were also used to provide demographics on the senior population of each state and the state's rank on senior health care, respectively.

Using March 2019 data from the Social Security Administration, Stacker compiled a list of the most popular names in each of the 50 states and Washington D.C., according to their 2018 SSA rankings. The top five boy names and top five girl names are listed for each state, as well as the number of babies born in 2018 with that name. Historically common names like Michael only made the top five in three states, while the less common name Harper ranks in the top five for 22 states.
