What is This Delectable Japanese Dish and Where Can You Find It in Yakima?
The other day my sister was visiting Yakima. We decided to go out and was brought up we could visit a favorite place of many, Kyoto's Sushi and Steakhouse on 24th and Nob Hill. It's a 'can't-go-wrong' restaurant in town for us that has something everyone likes from our family. I'm always down for sushi or udon or tempura or really anything on the menu.
As we were placing our orders, I figured I'd try something from the menu I've never ordered before. The people around me got typical items. A bento box that has a bit of everything, the udon which comes in a gigantic bowl, a large plate of tempura and even takoyaki - those little fried or baked octopus balls which are super tasty.
I noticed something on shogayaki which I wasn't familiar with. I'm sure it's amazing as I like anything from Kyoto's Sushi and Steakhouse but it was something I had never ordered in the past. I figured this day was as good as any day to try this.
I'm glad I did!
Shogayaki is basically a ginger-base teriyaki-style sauce. Mild, yet full of flavor. Yeah, I know that is a contradiction of terms, but it makes sense when you try it. They had a chicken and pork options. I opted for the pork just 'cuz.
It was served on this neat dish as well which added to the fun.
When in doubt, grab the pork shogayaki. I found this at Kyoto's Sushi and Steakhouse.
