Boy, has the times changed.  I remember in college when we skipped class to drink wine....now students can't wait to get to class so they can make wine.  I was born too soon!

YVC Has Found A Winning Wine Formula

We aren't talking about homemade hooch in a glass beaker.  No Boone's Farm or Mad Dog 20/20 in 2022!  The students have a track record of significant success more than a decade long.  Yakima Valley Vintners produces 400-700 cases of wine annually and its student-crafted wines have earned more than 185 awards over the last 13 years, most recently winning six awards ranging from gold, double gold, to platinum at the 21st Annual Wine Press Northwest Platinum Competition

They even have scholarships available for future winemakers at Yakima Valley College and one of the ways they fund those scholarships is with a Winemaker’s Dinner. Brilliant!!!  And you can attend.

How Can Yakima Help Provide For The Program

It's called the Vineyard and Winery Technology Program at Yakima Valley College and they're hosting the 13^th Annual Grape to Glass Gala—A Winemaker’s Dinner on Saturday, May 21, at 6 p.m.at the Yakima Valley College Conference Center, 1704 W. Nob Hill Blvd. in Yakima.

They do it up right with beer and wine tasting, live music, and a silent auction. The dinner itself will include a four-course meal prepared by Bon Vinos. This year’s event highlights the “Rising Stars” in the local wine industry and includes pairing dinner with wines from YVC’s Yakima Valley Vintners but also featuring beers and wines produced by alumni of the program.

Scholarship Money Means A Lot

Student Lorenzo Sanchez says the scholarship money has helped ease the financial burden on him and his family:

I am honored to be a recipient of the vineyard and technology scholarship...I will make sure I use that money wisely to continue to help my childhood dream of

graduating college.

Tickets & Info Are Available

If you are interested in attending, Tickets for the Grape to Glass Gala are on sale online or at the Yakima Valley Vintners Yakima Tasting Room at $85 per person for the general public ($75 if purchased before May 3), $75 for Yakima Valley Vintners Wine Club Members. and $500 for a table of six.
