Yakima: Beautiful in Spring and a Great Time to Plant Stuff!
Spring is definitely one of my favorite seasons to enjoy while living in the Yakima Valley. In fact, I'd say it ranks somewhere right up there in the Top 4 for sure! But don't ask me to choose, because each season has its own unique qualities.
This time of the year so many wonderful plants and trees are in full bloom and and it's important to enjoy them while they last. Here are a few photos from my yard. Of course, what I didn't take a snapshot of is the 4 tons of flower petals that have since blown off and onto the ground, in the yard, the flower beds, the pond, everywhere. That's not so pretty but it does afford me the opportunity to fire up the gas-powered leaf blower/vacuum. Power tools. Yeah.
As we know, caring for and maintaining a lawn and landscaping is quite a bit of work and there's a lot to learn about when to prune, how much do you water and when, what plants need full sun and so many other questions.
I was sorry to have missed the Virtual Spring Plant Sale this past weekend at the Yakima Area Arboretum but I was glad to hear that they have extended the sale and you can still pick up items this Saturday, May 16. Here are the details:
It all supports a really great cause AND you can benefit by doing a little something to spruce up your lawn and garden. Spending more time outdoors and getting some fresh COVID-free air might be just what the Doctor ordered.
One question: Are these weeds?
I kinda think so. Reach out and let me know using the free station app.
