A call to action to anyone wanting to give back to the community. Yakima Community Aid needs our help spreading the word about their upcoming donation drive. This is from their facebook page

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 lockdown, Yakima youth have been working to provide essential supplies to the homeless community in the city. As of now, more than one hundred people are receiving food and hygiene supplies through monetary and supplies

Follow them on social media so you don't miss upcoming events and let's start going through what we have and where we can go to get the rest because it's go time.

Donation Drive Wednesday, April 21st at Franklin Park from 5 pm - 6 pm

Head towards C&S Coffeehouse (where the old Soda Fountain used to be attached the Yakima Valley Museum) located to the left of the parking lot for a drive by drop off. The most convenient way to do it is pack-up all your donations in your trunk that way all you have to do is pop it and they can grab all the items.

Here's what they REALLY need:

  • tents
  • tarps
  • sleeping bags
  • backpacks
  • hygiene (unopened)
  • nonperishables
  • blankets
  • new socks and underwear

Here's what will be accepted:

  • gently used or new clothing
  • gently used or new shoes
  • furniture in good condition

Not accepting:

  • kids items
  • items in poor condition
  • open hygiene
  • used socks

Though taking the time to donate is absolutely fantastic please note that Yakima Community Aid has the right to refuse any items. If you have questions you can contact YCA by phone at 509-557-0536 or by emailing yakimacommunityaid@gmail.com.
