Yakima Police Still Searching For More Molestation Victims
Yakima Police continue the investigation into a man arrested for kidnapping and molesting a 6-year-old girl in Yakima earlier this month. Capt. Jay Seely says detectives believe there are other victims possibly in the Yakima area. 24-year-old Juan Joaquin is being held in the Yakima County jail as the investigation and the search for more victims continues.
The suspect made an appearance in court this week
He made an appearance in court this week where bail was set at $500,000. Joaquin is expected to face formal arraignment on charges of molestation and kidnapping on April 28.
Yakima Police Capt. Jay Seely says Joaquin grabbed the little girl from the street on April 6th. She was found hours after the assault walking in the area of the 900 blk of North 4th Street. The girl was taken to hospital where she was treated and released.
Authorities say the arrest happened after authorities teamed up
The 24 year old suspect, Juan Joaquin was arrested Yakima home in the 1200 blk of South 9th Avenue. Seely says the arrest on the same day that the girl was reported missing was made possible through partnering with other state and federal agencies. Yakima Police worked closely with federal agents from The Department of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, & Explosives (ATF), and the Drug Enforcement Administration. Police are looking for anyone who may have any information about the suspect especially if it concerns a past molestation.
Police are still searching for more victims
So far Seely says no other victims have come forward to talk to police.
