Yakima Police Taking Applications for Community Academy

Have you ever wondered what it's like behind-the-scenes of a police department? Well now you can find out! The Yakima Police Department is offering you a spot in their Community Academy. A chance for you to learn about law enforcement and the operation of YPD. According to KIMA, the academy "will cover a wide range of law enforcement activities including gang enforcement, YPD K-9 program, criminal investigations, YPD SWAT team and much more."

There is also a chance for you to take an optional Saturday class at a shooting range, and a ride along with an officer. The academy will kick off February 28 and take place every Wednesday night until May 16 at the Yakima Police Department Special Operations building. The best thing about it...it's FREE. There are only 30 spots in the class and enrollment is on a "first come basis."
