Can you put up a tent right on the sidewalk in Yakima like I see all the time in Portland, Oregon, and other major cities?
I've seen it more often than I'd like to count when visiting Portland.
A little in Seattle and in other larger cities, too, but mostly Portland where it's pretty bad.
Not to say it doesn't exist in Yakima but I haven't seen any sidewalks with a tent.

6.91.010 Unlawful camping.
(1) It shall be unlawful for any person to camp, occupy camp facilities, or use camp paraphernalia in the following areas, except as otherwise provided by ordinance or rule:(a) Any street, alley or sidewalk;
(b) Any parking lot or other property or lot owned by the city of Yakima, improved or unimproved; or
(c) Any right-of-way, planting strip, easement, median, parkway or trail.

It's listed at 1a with the word sidewalk.
So, yeah, no, you may not have a tent on a sidewalk in Yakima.
But, what if you do?
What's the fine for pitching a tent on a sidewalk in Yakima?
It's just a misdemeanor so nothing too bad. It could be up to $1,000 fine and/or 90 days in jail.
