If you were wondering what was happening with the Yakima Taco Fest, here is the latest news.

WHY THE EVENT IS CANCELLED

The event has been canceled. The timing of everything from COVID-19 restrictions, event swag arriving in time due to a national shortage of truck drivers, some vendors bowing out due to the poor air quality, and shipment arrivals just created a blend of tragic disappointments.

QUESTIONS WE HAVE ABOUT THE CANCELLED EVENT

The enthusiasm for the event has been huge, as the Yakima Valley has been salivating at the prospect of tacos, tacos, TACOS! Most, if not all, attendees are wondering if they are going to receive a refund for their Yakima Taco Fest tickets (and if they can still get those VIP Mexican blankets)!

"We will be refunding all ticket holders their full refund in the coming days to their original form of payment. Processing time takes about 7-10 business days." - Central Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce

ALL IS NOT LOST

This devastating news does not mean all is lost. The folks at the Central Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce have a backup plan.

3 LOCAL BREWERIES ARE STEPPING IN TO HELP

Three Yakima-area breweries have joined the fray to offer specialty drinks to honor Hispanic Heritage Month, which is coming up soon from September 15th thru October 15th. You can enjoy special brews honoring the Yakima Taco Fest at the following locations:

  • Single Hill Brewing
  • Cowiche Creek Brewing Company
  • 5th Line Brewing Company

NOMINATE A LOCAL HISPANIC SMALL BUSINESS LEADER

The CWHCC will also be highlighting local Hispanic/Chicanx/Latinx leaders. Know of someone worthy of a nomination? Enter their name here.

LOOKING FORWARD TO 2022

The event organizers hope that the Yakima Valley community will still continue to support the local Hispanic small business owners, and our farmworkers! We totally understand why this beloved event had to be canceled and we are looking forward to hopefully having a great event in 2022! You can still purchase Yakima Taco Fest Swag here.
