Yakima Valley Museum Offers Funds to Help for School Field Trips
When was the last time you visited our Yakima Valley Museum?
For me, well, it was a few months ago and I took some photos when I was there, but before that it had been years and I felt pretty bad about it.
So much of Yakima's history, all in one convenient location on Tieton Drive.

And, as a kid, visiting the museum was a highlight for a field trip.
As a kid, I remember going on a lot more field trips during the school year than my kids did. Some more fun than others but always educational and it was just fun to leave school for a little bit.
To help fund this a scholarship was set up so schools may apply to help get the funds needed for both transportation as well as admissions into the museum.
Thanks to generous funding from the Ruth Luhman Foundation at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, the Yakima Valley Museum is proud to offer funding to subsidize the cost of field trips for schools within ESD 105 to have the opportunity to experience engaging and interactive educational exhibits and programs, regardless of financial barriers.
It's a wonderful learning experience full of cultural history about our city and valley.
I remember as a kid thinking it was neat to see the historical stuff about Mt. St. Helens eruption as well as the interactive displays. Kids always love the interactive stuff.
If your school is interested, you may get more information and apply through the Yakima Valley Museum website.
