Yakima’s Original ‘Kwik Lok’ Bread Clip is Getting a Change After 70+ Years
You know it. You love it. You probably have 5 of these in your junk drawer because you never know. It's the Kwik Lok or, as most people know it, the bread clip. But don't let the name fool you! This bread clip is also found in sacks of potatoes, pasta and, if you're in Canada, it has been known to seal bags of milk. (wait, what?)
If you didn't know, the Kwik Lok has roots right here in Yakima as it was invented by Floyd G. Paxton shortly after World War 2. They still have a manufacturing building here in Yakima but also have a plant in New Haven, Indiana.
They've been around for 71 years and they're bringing a new product or chance to the existing Kwik Lok as we know it. It's a change that you may not even notice a difference, but it's still pretty big.
The Kwik Lok will now have the Fibre Lok in the United States. This is an environmentally sound clip that should help the planet in the long run.
Think about how many sacks of potatoes or loaves of bread you've had in your lifetime. That's a lot of plastic. Small, sure, but they can add up.
Commercial Banking reports that this new clip is a good thing. These are made from natural cellulose wood and not polystyrene.
From Kwik Lok's official site:
Kwik Lok is fully committed to continuing to innovate and invest in materials science. This enables us to offer products that utilize Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) material or other materials that are recycled and recyclable. Kwik Lok's priority is helping our customers make advances in sustainability and minimizing our collective impact on the environment. For some, that means identifying opportunity to cut carbon emissions. For others, minimizing plastics is the priority. Most are trying to find a balance between the two. Kwik Lok has closing solutions that meet these challenges and continues to innovate better solutions.
Another win for Yakima.
