Rik Mikals

I've been up and down the radio dial -- as the infamous "WKRP" theme song says. I started right out of high school in 1988 in my hometown of Clarkston Wash., at KCLK -- a country station -- and from there moved all over Idaho, Montana, California and Washington state at various radio stations. I was on KMPS in Seattle in the '90s and moved to Yakima in '98 as Program Director of KFFM. I moved again and again until I was in Bakersfield Calif., and then Tri-Cities. Finally I have come full circle back to Yakima as the Operations Manager for KFFM. I bought a farm in Prosser and have two great dogs named Phoebe and Barkley. My son is an aspiring musician who plays, performs and writes original music in his band, No Hope. I'm known for having a never-ending knowledge of pop culture, and I'm a huge comic book fan -- I have a collection easily totaling more than 5,000 comics.

Trampoline Makes List Of 2015 Dangerous Toys — Our Best Trampoline Fails

Christmastime is coming and I remember how I always loved getting new toys every year. I had no idea as child that some toys were potentially dangerous and deadly, though.

The World Against Toys Causing Harm is out with their list of the most dangerous toys for Christmas and the new 2015 list includes a foam dart gun, a quick-folding trampoline, a sword, a doctor's play set and velociraptor claws.

We talked about this on the Morning Bull Pen and Michele told us a story about a trampoline fail with her son Jackson. It got me thinking that there must be more trampoline fails out there, so I went hunting for them.

New Christmas TV Commercial Will Bring a Tear to Your Eye

I'm a sucker! There, I said it. I've always been a sucker when it comes to the holidays and all of those sentimental commercials that seem to populate our screens. I think it started for me as a kid when AT&T had those "reach out and touch someone" commercials. My all-time favorite commercial is the Budweiser "puppy" one. The puppy keeps running away until they finally reunite him with his horse friend. It looks like this year, we have a new commercial that will bring a tear and a sniffle.

Why Chris Stapleton Probably Won’t Change Country Radio Much

I grew up in the '80s, a time when Ronnie Milsap, Eddie Rabbit, Juice Newton and Alabama ruled the country music landscape and the thought of traditional country was in the rear view mirror as artists like Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennnings and Merle Haggard saw their radio hits waning.

At the time, a lot of folks where unhappy with the rise of country pop and the pendulum swung as country radio tried to find the next wave of traditional country. The next class exploded on the scene with Randy Travis, Alan Jackson, Clint Black and Garth Brooks being branded the "new" traditionalists and country music was saved again.

Now flash forward to 2015.
