Agri-pulse reports that The U.S. Cattlemen's Association sent a letter to the National Cattlemen's Beef Association asking why the organization lobbied for rules that would have limited the Freedom of Information Act requests to checkoff organizations.
The letter states that when NCBA lobbied for the changes through the 2017 appropriations process, the group should have consulted the Beef Checkoff Enhancement Working Group, a coalition of industry organizations that was seeking to make changes to the beef checkoff.

And beer labels will soon include nutrition and calorie counts. In addition to alcohol by volume the Brewers Voluntary Disclosure Initiative is asking companies to provide ingredients.
Finally, cherries through July. The Northwest cherry crop is half way through it’s season and USDA predicts it will be 7 percent less than last year due to rains in California. Warm weather in the Northwest resulted in an early crop, meaning few cherries will be picked in August.
