Country up-and-comer Devin Dawson is getting used to more and more people knowing his name and face -- which means more and more people stopping him to say hello and ask for a picture. Backstage at the 2018 ACM Awards in Las Vegas, Nev., the singer explained that, when it comes to fan interactions, he's taken to heart some words of wisdom from a pop superstar.

"I am a huge Ed Sheeran fan, and I was watching this interview with him, and he said, 'Fans might meet you one time in their life ... and if you're an a--hole to them, they'll remember that for life,'" Dawson tells WYRK's Liz Mantel and Clay Moden. "If you just give them two seconds -- the fact that people want to take a picture with you is a blessing."

That's why, even when he's feeling tired and run down, Dawson tries to be kind and polite. He knows even a small moment can make a fan's day.

"This is what I do, and that makes me happy that people want to come hang and say hi," the "Asking For a Friend" artist says, "so I am very happy to do it every single time."

One of The Boot's 2018 Artists to Watch, Dawson plans to hit in the road in June to open for Tim McGraw and Faith Hill during the second leg of their Soul2Soul Tour. He nabbed a New Male Vocalist of the Year nomination at the 2018 ACM Awards.
