Yakima County would get 14 retail outlets for recreational marijuana under newly issued rules from the Washington State Liquor Control Board.

No more than five would be allowed in the city of Yakima. One would be allowed in Grandview, Selah and Sunnyside. The remaining six would be at-large locations in the county.

The number of stores are based on population

It is under new rules from the state Liquor Control Board as part of implementing I-502.

There would be a total of 334 privately run stores in the state which are set to open in June of next year. Applicants are set to start seeking licenses this November.

The locations would be required to have a buffer around schools, parks and other locations where children are present.
