Most in Yakima are upset that we didn't get a Spirit Halloween. Sure, they have one in Tri-Cities and even Moses Lake but no Spirit Halloween for Yakima.

Spirit Halloween was a staple Halloween store in Yakima for several years. Many would look out for empty buildings to be the new location that year as it changes from year to year, opening just for the month to supply everyone with anything they need for the perfect Halloween party. Costumes, decorations, giant electronic devices to put in your yard and so much more, Spirit Halloween is just about the coolest store ever.

I found myself in Spokane over the weekend and we stopped by one of the 3 or 4 Spirit Halloween stores while we were in town. But while we were at one of the local malls, we saw a competing Halloween store called Halloween Express.

Similar idea, but just seemed different in a good way.

They had the same type of items that Spirit Halloween had but it just seemed like they had more of a selection. they also had some unique and custom items as well as plus-sized costumes. I'm a big dude who rocks a 2X and I can never find anything larger than XL there for myself. Not to say Spirit doesn't, but I've never seen it. Halloween Express in Spokane had a few options. Not a lot, but enough.

They also had a few photo ops where you can take you picture sitting in a fake electric chair, pop your head up to have it look like your head is on a platter and a lot more. Pretty neat!

Check out some of the photos I took. It'll probably look pretty similar to Spirit but it was fun to see.

LOOK: How Halloween has changed in the past 100 years

Stacker compiled a list of ways that Halloween has changed over the last 100 years, from how we celebrate it on the day to the costumes we wear trick-or-treating. We’ve included events, inventions, and trends that changed the ways that Halloween was celebrated over time. Many of these traditions were phased out over time. But just like fake blood in a carpet, every bit of Halloween’s history left an impression we can see traces of today.
