Seahawks Sign Safety Kam Chancellor to Four-Year Contract Extension
With Chancellor entering the last year of his rookie contract, the Seahawks signed the hard hitting safety to an extension Monday, locking up his services through 2017.
Seahawks.com reported today:
The 6-foot-3, 232-pound Chancellor has been a starter the past two seasons and become a big part of – literally – what is arguably the NFL’s best secondary, one that also includes All-Pro free safety Earl Thomas, All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman and Pro Bowl-caliber corner Brandon Browner.
Chancellor, who just turned 25, had 91 tackles for the league’s No. 4-ranked defense to finish third on the team last season, when he was a second alternate to the Pro Bowl. Chancellor was second on the team in tackles (94) and also had career-highs in interceptions (four) and passes defensed (13) in 2011, when he played in the Pro Bowl as an injury replacement after being a first alternate in balloting for the NFL’s all-star game.
