Secrecy has proven something of a sore subject for Game of Thrones Season 6, with HBO attempting to limit the availability of spoilers (even from the press), and oftentimes failing miserably. To wit, the network even amusingly offered its final two Season 6 episode releases without any description whatsoever, but Emmy ballots for “Battle of the Bastards” and “The Winds of Winter” tell a different story.

Given all Game of Thrones mysteries and histories slowly converging back toward the series’ end, the HBO drama will inevitably omit certain fan-favorite character’s origins. So it is with Brienne of Tarth, whom George R.R. Martin now confirms to have a major tie to his prequel novellas Tales of Dunk and Egg.

Lord knows we’ve missed the genius of Jon Stewart’s late-night voice in these troubled times, and it’s been some time since HBO signed the former Daily Show host to a four-year development deal. We wouldn’t expect Stewart to suit up again behind a desk just yet, but HBO now believes the late-night veteran will return to active TV duty just in time for the 2016 election.

So February is almost upon us, and that means it’s time to make Valentine’s Day plans. Because I’ve got a newborn baby at home (and because I’ve always been cheap and lazy), this year I’ll probably sit at home and watch movies with my wife. If you’d like to go that route too, HBO NOW has plenty of appropriate options to choose from, including the single most romantic movie of 2015, Magic Mike XXL. What could possibly be more romantic than Joe Manganiello grinding a gas station soda machine? (I’m drawing a blank, but that might be because I keep getting distracted by Manganiello’s abs.)

HBO had plenty to announce by the recent TCA press tour (as well to keep quiet), and now some more good news has flown in under the wire. The network has handed a series order to a ‘70s New York porn drama from The Wire creator David Simon, rounded out by James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhaal. No, we’ve made none of this up.

Just a few short hours ago, HBO gave Game of Thrones fans reason to celebrate by confirming Season 6’s April premiere, but the party may not be over just yet. Sources say that HBO will soon renew Game of Thrones for both Seasons 7 and 8, potentially to close out the series.

It seems like only a few short weeks ago, Game of Thrones sent fans into a panic with speculation that Season 6 might end up scheduled for May 2016, rather than its usual April slot, but rest easy. Not only has the landmark year for HBO’s high fantasy been set for an official April bow, but so too have fellow power-players Veep Season 5 and Silicon Valley Season 3.

We’re less than a week removed from the tense and poignant finale of HBO’s The Leftovers Season 2, the cap to a 2015 run already dominating year-end Top 10 lists, though the series’ low ratings suggested an ominous future ahead. Well, there’s good news and bad, as The Leftovers will indeed return for a third year, albeit as a final season.

HBO has been cranking up the Game of Thrones marketing early for Season 6, first a poster, then a trailer teasing Jon Snow’s return, and before 2015 is even out, we’ve been blessed with the first footage.
