Today I welcomed the Consulate-General of Japan based in Seattle. He is in Yakima learning more about our community and building relationships with Yakima area organizations. Yakima has a sister city relationship with Itayanagi Japan in the province of Aomori. He plans to visit the Yakima Valley Museum and travel to Wapato as part of his visit here.
If you weren’t vegetarian before, perhaps it’s time to make the switch. Scientists in Japan have now created a way to synthesize “beef steaks” from human feces. Russell Brand just wanted to see his wife Kate Perry perform in Japan. Unfortunately for the funnyman, Japanese authorities weren't amused by his criminal record, and on Sunday the 35-year-old was deported from the island nation.
Perry took to Twitter to explain what had gone down:
So...my husband just got deported from Japan. I am so. sad. I brought him all this way to show him my favorite place," she tweeted. "It was for priors from over 10 years ago! ...But of COURSE I my Japanese fans & the show #MUSTGOON no matter the daily aftershocks or husband kidnappings!"
Brand is just the latest in a long list of celebrities whose behavior has been deemed so abhorrent that they were banned from an entire nation. Read on to see who else got the big boot.

Some are already declaring the 8.9 magnitude quake the largest ever recorded and after-effects are expected to hit the west coast of the US, the Phillippines, Indonesia and other vulnerable spots. The Internet has sped into action, using Twitter to report updates and Google's crisis response page to report missing persons.
