I've always seen snowflakes like this in cartoons and drawings, but not often in real life.

I've only seen this one other time in my life and it was several years ago. It's hard to catch them as your body temperature may make them melt immediately but several have been posting photos of them on their coat or gloves.

If you think about it, these are making our air cleaner.

A snowflake begins to form when an extremely cold water droplet freezes onto a pollen or dust particle in the sky. This creates an ice crystal. As the ice crystal falls to the ground, water vapor freezes onto the primary crystal, building new crystals – the six arms of the snowflake.
