A Crab Boil in Yakima Makes a Fun, Interactive, Engaging Meal
The first time I ever experienced a crab boil wasn't in Seattle, but in Syracuse, NY of all places. I was there for a convention and someone at the hotel suggested it as it was nearby and they just opened. We took them up on the offer and I just loved everything about it. The flavors all mixed together, the shrimp and crab and even crawfish and sausage. They even had more filler foods like potatoes and corn which, to me, the potatoes were the best part as they absorbed all the flavorful, buttery goodness.
When I went back to Syracuse the following year we hit this place up again as it became a new tradition.
The problem was, as much as I loved it there, I know we have places that do that here in the Northwest, especially the Seattle area, but didn't have much option here in Yakima at a restaurant until a few years ago.
Captain Crab and Ramen on 72nd and Tieton offers that same experience.
They have a few different tiers you can select from depending on what type of items you want included, then you select your flavorings from garlic butter which isn't spicy to more of a cajun style which has a definite zing to it. Either way, you can't go wrong.
Then they literally give you a big and a set of gloves but it's all hands-in. The easiest way to eat is without using utensils. You still can, of course, by why would you? Peeling the heads off of crawfish or deshelling shrimp or just using both hands to crack crab claws is half the fun.
Price wise, it's nice as you pay for the table so just one price will feed all who are there, as needed.
A fun time to be had by all.
