According to NBC News, the source of this settlement comes from the art of basically misleading people to sign up for Amazon Prime, but then making it very difficult to cancel.

From this Amazon Prime is paying one billion dollars in civil penalties and 1.5 billion dollars to eligible customers which could be you.

How to Be Eligible for the Amazon Prime Settlement

Have an Amazon Prime membership in the United States.

Signed up during what they call the "challenged enrollment flow" between June 23, 2019 through June 23, 2025.

Have used 3 or less Prime benefits in any 12-month period after signing up

If you qualified for this, you'll receive an email anytime between now and December 24 letting you know what to do next to claim your piece of the settlement.

You can either accept venmo or paypal or Amazon will send you a check.
