Applebee’s Closing 25-35 Locations Across the Country

Applebee's is kind of the staple 'not sure where to go or what we're hungry for and everyone keeps arguing on where to go' restaurants that appeals to most. It's one of my kid's favorite places in town as, again, you know what you're getting every time. Nice place, nice atmosphere, great appetizers, and a little of everything.

It was announced earlier that Applebee's would be slow to open new stores and, unfortunately, would be closing some underperforming locations across the United States.

Even more unfortunate is that they more recently announced that they would close more stores than previous anticipated.

According to Restaurant Business Online the original plan was to close maybe 10-20 and now they're looking at an average of 25-35 stores by the end of the year. They've closed about 300 locations since 2017, eliminating under-performing locations in favor of those that are doing great to put focus and efforts into those that are already thriving and newer locations that are doing well.

Fortunately, as of writing this, they don't have any plans on closing the location in Yakima. I wouldn't think they would as the Yakima location is always booming every time I go, and it's in a location with plenty of competition so I think that'll be here to stay. I sure hope so, especially for my kid's sake.
