Avenue Q the Broadway Musical Comes Back to Yakima, With a Twist
If only I was more active online or on social media, then I would have seen the Yakima Valley audition call for actors to play in the upcoming musical, Avenue Q. This play is one of my top 5 favorite musicals of all time (Phantom of the Opera and Hairspray are my top 2). When Avenue Q first arrived at the Capitol Theatre in Yakima in 2010, I was blown away. I quickly became one of this musical's biggest fans.
🎵EVERYONE’S A LITTLE BIT🎵...SING ALONG IF YOU KNOW THE REST!
Avenue Q is Rated R, and not intended for young audiences!
I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the performers were all Muppets!
NARRATOR: They were PUPPETS, not MUPPETS.
I couldn’t believe the songs they sang were so tame and mellow!
NARRATOR: The songs were RAUNCHY and the play is rated R for language, puppet s*x, and various other adult topics that are absolutely not suitable for kids under 18.
And most of all, I just couldn’t believe the fresh originality of this screenplay! I had seen nothing like it before, at least not with MUPPETS!
NARRATOR: It’s a STAGE PLAY, not a screenplay, and again, they’re not MUPPETS! GEEZUS.
The Yakima Valley College Drama Department is bringing my favorite musical back to Yakima, some 13 years later. There will be only six (6) performances of this Tony award-winning play.
Avenue Q will begin performances at the Kendall Hall Auditorium beginning Thursday, November 9th and ending Saturday, November 18th. Each of the 6 nightly performances begin at 7:30 p.m.
YVC students and Seniors can get a $10 discount ticket.
ADDRESS: 1016 S 16th Ave, Yakima Valley College Campus, Kendall Hall
