Why Bikes Aren’t Welcome Inside Your Local Stores
And, no, we're not talking about bicycle shops.
It's those instances where someone bikes to the grocery or drug store just to grab a few items.
It's unsafe to leave your bike unattended outside so they bring it inside. Even just inside the lobby are just after the automatic doors and prop it out away from everything, out of the way so it wouldn't be in anyone's way.
But this is still not allowed by most stores in Washington State.
Why You Shouldn't Bring a Bike Inside a Store
You can still use your bicycle to get to a store, but there should be a way to lock it up outside. Many places still have bike racks for that purpose.
Now, there is no city ordinance that says this, it's more to the store's digression but most will agree that it's not allowed inside.
There may be stores in the Yakima Valley that don't mind. I haven't found one, yet. If you know of a store that doesn't mind you bring your bike inside, appchat us and let us know.

Five Reasons Bikes May Not Be Allowed in Stores
One of the main reasons is liability. The idea that it could be blocking something is always a hazard for any store and if it's your bike, it's your fault.
Cleanliness could be an issues as well. Bringing in muddy bike tires into a store and I promise they're not going to clean up the mess.
Store policy would dictate not just bicycles but skateboards or anything else like that not allowed in store. If you allow one thing then others may slide as well.
Small space could play a roll, too. There's just no room to have a bicycle to put anywhere.
Finally, if you bring in something like a bike it could be cause for easier to take unpaid items.
Best not to cause a concern and bring a bike lock to find a place to lock up the bike outside and play nice.
