Celebrity Turkey Bowling is Back, and We’re Ready to Roll
The Yakima Valley has a lot to be thankful for this season -- including Northwest Harvest, which is celebrating its 50th year of fighting hunger in our region.
So Friday morning (Nov. 18), Michele and I plan to "bowl with a goal" when the annual Celebrity Turkey Bowling gets rolling at Grocery Outlet, 2109 S. First St. We'll be representing Team Bull when the frozen turkeys start careening toward the pins at 8 a.m.
Our competition will be celebrity bowlers from other local media outlets. (No point in mentioning them here -- they can't possibly beat us, and as we all know, the second-place finisher is just first loser!)
Kidding aside, it's all in fun, and it's all for a great cause.
For every strike the teams bowl, Grocery Outlet donates a frozen Thanksgiving turkey to any of a number of local charities that offer help to neighbors in need.
We want to help all we can -- but the truth is, we mostly want to come back with the prestigious Traveling Turkey Trophy!
So if you're a fan of athleticism -- or at least altruism -- come down to cheer us on and heckle our opponents.
See you there ...
