Chris Stapleton debuted some brand new music at his concert on Sunday (July 16) in Buffalo, N.Y. during an All-American Road Show Tour stop. At a show that already included a surprise appearance by Miranda Lambert and a birthday singalong for Anderson East, concertgoers were in for another treat.

The Boot reports that the concert was the first time Stapleton ever performed “Trying to Untangle My Mind.” The three-minute mid-tempo track has the singer continuously repeating the song's title and infuses whiskey-soaked vocals and impressive guitar shredding to the song. “Trying to Untangle My Mind” is the first taste of new music since Stapleton released From A Room: Volume 1 in May. While “Broken Halos” is the latest single off the project, there's a chance “Trying to Untangle My Mind” will be featured on From A Room, Volume 2, due out later this year.

Stapleton is back on the road as part of his All-American Road Show Tour after postponing several tour dates when sustaining a hand injury last month. While he never revealed exactly how he injured his finger, it required a serious splint and a reshuffling of concert dates.

“On my way to Tulsa where this will come OFF & it will be ON!” he wrote on Instagram on June 21 as he prepared to make his grand return. The soft-spoken singer eventually revealed that he broke a bone and tore a tendon in his finger, and a doctor said he’d only be able to play guitar again after some physical therapy.

“There is little in this world that I enjoy more than getting to make music with all of you night after night,” he said in a letter to fans. “Thank you for the privilege.”
