Clay Walker is headed home to Texas this month to headline a concert benefiting those affected by April's deadly flooding in Houston.

Walker is joining forces with Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, as well as Joel and Victoria Osteen of Houston's Lakewood Church, for the event, which is set for May 20 at the worship site. Proceeds from the event will go to the Greater Houston Storm Relief Fund.

“Houston has been home to me for most of my life. It is an honor to help those in need by joining together to heal hearts and repair the structures that shelter so many families who make up the rich fabric of our community,” Walker says in a press release. “This is an opportunity to do good and feel good inside by uplifting our neighbors and showing them we care and are willing to share in their struggle as we all rebuild.”

Seven people died due to high water in the Houston area last month; emergency crews made over 1,200 rescues during the disaster, and at least 123,000 homes lost power, according to CNNCarrie Underwood was scheduled to perform in Houston on April 19, but she was forced to postpone the concert due to the storm.

“So many people in our area suffered extreme loss due to these recent floods. Many lost more than possessions -- jobs, family members, homes and in some cases their livelihood,” Mayor Turners says. “It is our privilege to come together and help our fellow Houstonians recover. I thank all of the wonderful people who have made this opportunity to help others in a big way possible.”
