Cornole is back!

If you've never played cornhole, you are truly missing out. This game is so much fun! Of course, the game has been around for decades but I began playing it a few years ago when one of my besties began dating a guy who custom-built her a cornhole board. It is magnificent and made of high-quality sturdy wood. He even stained it to make it look multi-dimensional. It is a thing of beauty!

The best way I can describe how to play cornhole is to think of it as a bean bag toss. Toss your bean bags on top of the board and you'll get some points. Land one of your bags into the hole and you get extra points. The game gets competitive when you knock your opponent's bag(s) off the board, preventing them from getting any points. You can play as a team with someone else or play one-on-one.

Some people in Yakima take the game of cornhole very seriously, in fact, there is a dedicated cornhole league that people can join. If you stop by Hop Capital Brewing ( 2920 River Rd #7) on the right night, you'll even find a cornhole "tournament" going on. There's no need to sign up before you go, just show up and play against others.

I've heard the next cornhole tournament is coming up next Monday, so put that on your calendar and go play some cornhole!

Maybe one day we'll see cornhole being played by athletes at the Olympics?
