New This May: Two separate charity sports tournaments are happening, and they each have one thing in common: using the love of cornhole as the tool. Cornhole has become a very popular sport in the Yakima Valley, from backyard games with friends to the private Facebook group with over 200 members.

The first charity cornhole tournament is in Yakima; it aims to raise funds for a new school mental health and suicide prevention program. The other is in Sunnyside; it's a benefit for a community service club.
Cornhole Tournament #1: FRIDAY, MAY 1ST
509 Sicarios and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie #2927 are hosting a Cinco de Mayo Weekend cornhole tournament at 100 E South Hill Rd in Sunnyside (across the street from Jack in the Box). All skill levels are welcome to play. The event starts at 6 p.m. This is an all-ages event!
Cornhole Tournament #2: SATURDAY, MAY 9TH
This event will have food trucks, a raffle that organizers are describing as "huge", and plenty of space on the lawn you spectators to cheer on your favorite team (or yourself, ha). There will be some big money cash awards plus a chance to make some new cornhole friends. The Cornhole with a Purpose Tournament is Saturday, May 9, 2026, games begin at 12 p.m. at the SOZO Sports Complex (2200 S 36th Ave in Yakima).
