Missing These Classic Yakima Favorite Stores and Restaurants? Take a Walk Down Memory Lane
Hop in the wayback machine with me as we go back in time to remember Yakima stores and restaurants that still hold their own special place in our hearts.
Gone But Not Forgotten: Pour One Out for The Homies
I have pretty much already spent most of my paycheck and what's left over is for bills, but if I *did* have some fun money left, I wish I could go spend it at JoAnn's. Or Value Village! Do you remember when we used to have that store over there by the mall in Union Gap?
It was just a couple of years ago when we lost beloved stores like Forever 21 at the mall (it's now a Charlotte Russe), the Rite Aid locations, all the Yakima/Union Gap Taco Time locations, and the Burger Ranch on S 1st St (which is now a giant drive-thru/dine-in sushi restaurant).

Forgotten Gems And The New Stores Taking Their Place
It's not all bad news, though. We've lost some of the greats, but we've gained some newbies that have quickly become our favorites, like Five Below, a couple of Spirit Halloweens (ha), a bunch of new car washes, a couple of coffee stands, and coming soon a Nothing Bundt Cakes store.
These are stores I bet you've forgotten about that you'll wish were still around, too.
#6: Shorty's Sweets, Treats, and Eats: formerly housed in a corner building on Staff Sargeant Pendleton Way, Shorty (aka Linda Ramos) made Cheese Zombies a household name in Yakima.
#5: Gilbert Cellars Tasting Room: When this winery tasting room opened at the corner of North Front Street and Yakima Ave, I thought it had one of the swankiest interiors I had seen in my life. I miss going there on dates and to meet up with my girlfriends.
#4: Grant's Pub: You know you're old when you can remember "Monday Pimps & Hoes" night at Grant's. The first time I went to one of those parties I was floored and almost literally died laughing.

#3: Casa Mia Restaurant: I was crushed when they packed up and moved to Tri-Cities some years back. They had some really good Italian food!
#2: Value Village: It was one of the best thrift shops around, man!
#1: Craft Warehouse: If you can remember when the old JoAnn's on Tieton was Craft Warehouse, then you're old skool Yakima, and you probably have at least one item tucked away in your craft closet that you grabbed when they went out of business.
Which places do you still miss? Let me know in the comments.
