Sunshine Mart Sparks Nostalgia With A Movie Poster From 2001

There's a local store I visit sometimes that, if you look in the window, you'll noticed they still have a movie poster previewing future releases.

These were not uncommon for many years and would often be featured in most video stores. The problem is Yakima hasn't had a video store in several years.

This place used to be a video store and still carries this slice of nostalgia for all to see.

The Sunshine Mart on 68th and Tieton, until around 10 years ago, used to be a gas station convenient store that also rented movies.

Even when most movie rental stores in Yakima have closed shop including Hollywood Video, Crazy Mike's Video, Blockbuster, and so many others, Sunshine Mart still had movies for recent until maybe around 10 years ago.

You can still see proof of this by the fact they still have a movie drop-off box near the sidewalk from their location.

You can find this poster in the window on the west side of the store. You'll see it from the outside as shown by the sun-fading on this poster advertising some movies that are slated to be released in May of 2001.

Fun to see Tuesday as the new release day as, for some reason, Tuesday was always the new release days for movies and video games. It may have even been new release days for albums, too.

Some pretty great movies around this time, too.

Jet Li in The Legend 2, the romantic comedy What Women Want with Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt, the creepy Cabin by the Lake, and so many more.

Even a preview of movies to be released in June like classics Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Castaway, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Dude, Where's My Car?, and Unbreakable.
