Is that time of year when the United States is watching the Winter Olympics.

The winter games can be fun. Like the summer games they happen every 4 years as well, but two years after the summer games.

Winter Olympic Games that WA Sports Fans Love

The winter sports they highlight are ones like ice skating, skiing, bobsleigh, biathlon that combines cross-country skiing with shooting a rifle which I always found rather confusing but cool, and several others.

Curling has found its way to be one of the more popular sports and, the more you watch, the more you say to yourself '...that's something even I could probably do', and you'd be right.

So the question arises, "does Yakima have a curling club?"

As it turns out, not very surprising but you never know, there isn't an official one.

Curling Clubs Near Me

Unfortunately, the closest curling club is in Seattle where you can join the Granite Curling Club of Seattle.

The next closest is in Beaverton, Oregon, where you can be a part of the Evergreen Curling Club. How Oregon got away with stealing the 'evergreen' slogan from Washington I'll never know.

Then aside from another in Bend, OR, the Inland Northwest Curling Club of Coeur d'Alane, Idaho, that's about it for the northwest.

With so many curling clubs across the nation with several in states like Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan. Even Florida has 3 official curling clubs. Washington only has the one.

At least for now.

You can check out usacurling.org for official curling clubs across the US and how to get more involved. In the meantime, the local shuffleboard at your favorite nearby pub will have to do.

But for a player who makes it to the WHL or any other junior league, the chances of them reaching the NHL is still only 5%. These former Tri-City Americans are those elite few who have made the jump.
