Rising singer-songwriter Dillon Carmichael captures the feeling of blissful love with his new song, "Picking Up Where We Left Off."

Carmichael debuted the track during his acoustic set as part of the Songwriter Sessions at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville on Saturday (Jan. 12). While introducing the song, he shared that he wrote it a few months ago and that it's one of his favorite tracks.

The song's lyrics have him singing about a love that he's thankful for in the moment, and knows that when this woman returns, they'll reunite as if no time has passed. "I know you gotta run now baby / But I know you'll come back around / I've been waiting on you waitin' on me / I fall a little farther the further you get from me / It's worth it all / Makin' up for the time we lost / Picking up where we left off," he sings. Viewers can jump to 42:50 to watch the performance.

Dillon Carmichael's Keith Whitley Is Unbelievable:

Carmichael, who's nephew to Eddie Montgomery of Montgomery Gentry and John Michael Montgomery, released his album, Hell on an Angel, in August of 2018. Esteemed Nashville producer Dave Cobb helmed the project, which features the single "Dancing Away With My Heart." Carmichael made his debut on the Grand Ole Opry in the same month.

“I never would have imagined the reaction we have been getting to these songs. It's so amazing,” Carmichael shared with Taste of Country in the days leading up to his album's release. "I can feel the growth in my career at the moment.”
