Gary Allan is on the mend after quietly undergoing knee surgery on Monday (July 22). The 'Pieces' singer had the procedure to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee.

Allan was in good surgical hands, as he was operated on by Dr. Burton Elrod, who serves as the team physician for the Tennessee Titans of the NFL. Elrod performed the procedure and is said to be pleased with the result. That's great news for both Allan and his fans.

The star isn't letting a little surgery keep him down. He plans to resume his touring schedule immediately, with a show booked Friday (July 26) at the Horseshoe Casino in Robinsonville, Miss.

What a trooper! He just had his knee repaired and he's already getting back on the road and on the stage. Clearly, musicians must have some strain of mutated DNA that renders them so dedicated to touring that they must immediately return to active duty.

Allan himself commented on his procedure and quick recovery time, saying, "I wanted to thank all of you for the well wishes and let you know I'm feeling great. I may be in a knee brace the next time you see me on the stage, but I’m looking forward to rocking Mississippi on Friday night!"

Nothing, not even surgery, can keep Gary Allan off that wide open road.
