During a recent appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Blake Shelton let out a hearty laugh when he revealed that he was hoping that, when the time came, his girlfriend Gwen Stefani would propose to him, rather than the other way around.

It sounds like that didn’t go over very well back at home.

"She goes, 'You know this is not how this is gonna work,'" Shelton told Entertainment Tonight on Monday (May 6) backstage at The Voice.

During the same episode of Ellen, Shelton accepted a gift of a clock that with his and Stefani's faces emblazoned on it. So far, that clock hasn't shown up on his doorstep.

"Man I left [the show], I said, 'Hey, I'm gonna take my clock with me'... There wasn't any glass on it, I guess for camera purposes. They didn't want the reflection, so she said she wants to have the glass put back in it and then she's gonna send it over to me," Shelton explains. "She's getting it fixed up for me for sure."

Once they receive the clock, it sounds like it will be put in a special place of honor within their house. "She loves it," Shelton adds of Stefani's love of the clock. "She loves Ellen, any gift from Ellen."

The country star has his hands full with his work on The Voice, and it's increasingly likely  the "God’s Country" hitmaker will come home as a winner yet again.

"This is my show, and I decided to throw in some loopholes for Adam (Levine) to be able to keep some people in the show,” Shelton jokes. "I felt sorry for him because he's a loser. I am gloating. I am bragging. They don't pay me to lose. They pay me to try and win this competition. Now I feel like I'm getting my job done."
