Most people don't think about natural disasters and more likely than not to be prepared for a disaster when it strikes.

I know my family isn't prepared but Ready.Gov has compiled all the information that you'll need in case of a disaster.

Thanks to Ready.Gov - there are 13 basic things that you need on hand in case of a disaster. There are some items that are obvious but also a few that you might not be thinking about.

Here's what Ready.Gov advises that you have on hand - all 13 things that you'll need.

Water - at least 3 gallons for each person in your household

A 3 day supply of non-perishable food

A flashlight

A radio - in case of updated messages

Extra Batteries

A First Aid Kit

A Whistle (in case you need to call for help)

Dust Masks

Plastic Sheeting and Duct Tape

Sanitation Supplies

A wrench

A manual can opener

and a Map (just in case your GPS goes out)

There are other things to have stored away and ready to go.

Thanks to Ready.Gov for the basic list of things that you'll need on hand in case of a disaster.

I know I need to work on my list because my family are way behind on this list.
