Have you heard the rumblings?

There's a few in town that are saying Yakima is getting a Five Below store and it's coming fairly soon.

I saw this a couple of times on Facebook with people asking about what's going in the old Party City location. There's a couple people there who 'heard from someone else' or 'a friend of an employee told me' style grapevine rumor

They're saying if Five Below is coming in, it'll take over the old Party City building in Union Gap.

This would be a great thing for Yakima.

Here in Yakima we love our discount stores and, if Five Below came to Yakima, it's the the first Five Below location for all of Washington State.

Outside of Washington, the closest Five Below is probably one of the stores in Sacramento, California.

What did Five Below say when I asked them if they were coming to Yakima?

I got, in what I can only assume, is a canned response. A 'one-click' answer to anyone asking if they're going anywhere.

Here's what they said.

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Five Below! It’s so great to hear that you love Five Below and want us to locate a store near you!

As of now, we don't have information about a possible store opening, but our Real Estate Team is always looking for the next great opportunity, so I will definitely let them know about your suggestion.

In the meantime, please visit us online at https://www.fivebelow.com. It's the next best thing to being there!!

Thanks again for taking the time to write us; We hope to be closer to you soon :)

Have a great day!

This is the same type of response I got when I'd ask Trader Joe's if they had plans to come to Yakima.
Which, well, so far, we don't have a Trader Joe's in Yakima.

But companies will have these blanket responses for anyone who ask. If there's no official word, yet, they won't say anything until it's officially official.

Will Yakima see a Five Below this year? I guess we'll wait and see if they have an official release and, when they do, we'll relay the message.
