Yakima loves its pets! And the KIT crew is asking all pet-lovers to get together and send their best Halloween-fall pet photos to the KIT app at https://apps.apple.com/us/app/news-talk-kit-1280/id1211322766.

I asked for some recommendations about the best spots for pet fall photos. Here’s what I got.

#1: Yakima Area Arboretum

Yakima Area Arboretum ranks at the top for autumn pet photography due to its picturesque fall foliage and many different scenic backgrounds across 46 acres. And many don’t know, but it’s cost-free to visit!

#2: Yakima Greenway

Many people love to walk their dogs on our beautiful greenway trail alongside the Yakima River. Cottonwoods, maples, and sumacs line the banks, making it the perfect photogenic pet photo spot.

#3: Washington Fruit Place and Barrett Orchards

Unlike some of the big, crowded pumpkin patches and corn mazes, Washington Fruit Place and Barrett Orchards is a perfect place to take some photos relatively free of too much disturbance. They have a small pumpkin patch and a small hay maze to help you create a perfect backdrop.

#4: Whistlin’ Jack

A little unorthodox, I know, but the colors out at Whistlin’ Jack are pristine come mid-October. Walk your pet down to the Naches River, but make sure to bundle up! It gets chilly out there this time of year.

#5: Emil Kissel Park

If you are looking for something simpler, try Emil Kissel Park. Although it is a regular city park, the fall foliage is great, and it’s perfect if you want to play with your dogs afterward.
