Two Tacoma Chefs Are Going on National TV for ‘Pitmasters’ Debut
TV news alert, and this one's for all the Washington foodies: Set your timers to watch Food Network on Monday, July 13th, for the premiere of Pitmasters.
Think Top Chef meets grilling on the barbie.
Even though there aren't many top spots in Central Washington to get pitmaster-quality BBQ like they have on the Westside of the state, we can at least cheer on two of the chefs competing in Pitmasters because they live in Tacoma, Washington, and co-own Grann Restaurant! Judging from the pics on their Instagram, this place is worth a road trip!

This is a Cooking Show with a Twist
What is Pitmasters all about? The twist in this show is that contestants will also be trying out each other's food--something that doesn't happen on Top Chef.
Four judges will eat their way through this barbecuing competition that will have nine teams competing for the big prize: up to $50,000 in cash. The teams will have two people working together to win each set of challenges, and they all know it's worth the stress to make it to the finish line.
"Teams of the world's most elite pitmasters push live-fire cooking to its limits as they compete in a non-stop week-long battle for BBQ glory in Food Network's all-new series, Pitmasters." - Food Network
Meet Denzel and Reginald, Pitmasters Contestants from Tacoma
Denzel Johnson and Reginald Jacob Howell are partners in a restaurant together in named Grann. They're famous celebrities in the restaurant scene, with features in Seattle Refined, Eater Seattle, and the Seattle Times.
Grann Restaurant serves Creole, Caribbean, and Indian food, including vegetarian options, too. Think Southern barbecue surprises like brisket smashburgers, soul and Caribbean food classics like salmon croquettes, fresh-made pasta, and collard greens, plus decadent Indian cuisine staples like curry Caesar salad, dal makhani, and vada pav.
"This is bigger than us—it’s a chance to celebrate our city, our community, and everyone who’s been part of this journey. We’re incredibly grateful for all the love and support, and there’s no better place to watch the premiere than right here at home." - Grann Restaurant
♨️You already know I'm rooting for the home team. Come thru, Denzel and Reginald!🔥
